This is so egregious. I noticed similar language on the City of Portland's website for applications to various boards yesterday. This blatant and shameless promotion of a social and political agenda is exacerbating and encouraging Portland and Multnomah County's Doom Loop. Anyone with a buck and a brain is going to get out of town sooner rather than later.
I’m not sure how discriminating by race is called “equal opportunity”? I’m curious. Why do you say that the attorneys of Pacific Legal Foundation are as you say “white supremacists”?
It's also a requirement that you live in the district. Maybe those guidelines are to prevent more racists like Todd Zarnitz on the board- that quota is filled! Plus this board is still all white after the new members.
I have no idea who Todd Zarnitz is but seriously doubt he’s a racist. I’ve just seen too many Portland Intolerant illiberals use that line of attack as a cudgel to oppose common sense….Can you give specifics on your charge?
Waiting for Sally C to step up! NWDA is always looking for people to serve on its committees, although, yes, you do have to live in the district. But everyone who lives in Portland lives in a neighborhood association district. Many need to be revitalized. Plenty of opportunities.
The thing is that the Stakeholders Advisory Committee is a volunteer opportunity that needs to just find someone to be on the committee and be willing to do the work. They also need to be able to stand up to the City when they ignore the "stakeholders advice".
One question might be the extent to which marginalized communities are affected by the specific issue of parking laws. Aren't we all in the same boat in NW Portland when it comes to finding a parking space? Maybe I'm wrong - if so, represent your community and apply to serve on the committee, attend all its meetings, deal with the issues, etc.! Diversity is certainly extremely important for some community functions, but less so for others.
It's possible that the City is so fed up with this SAC that they're using the DEI stuff to rein in these troublemakers. (An impression I've picked up from other meetings.) Once you have an ideology that people feel strongly about, you can exploit it to your own ends.

Maybe you should leave now .
Portland, OR where discrimination is used to make up for past wrongs. Do two wrongs make a right?
If you have been wronged by governmental discriminatory practices, contact Pacific Legal Foundation. They take these cases on pro bono.

Hey Todd Zarnitz- why would a trans activist who lives in the neighborhood not know what it's like to live there?

Based on the fact that he's "disturbed" by racial equity.
Disturbed by racial equity or racial “equity” masquerading as discrimination? We see the later frequently in Oregon and Portland. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9111925/Oregon-sued-discrimination-allocating-62million-Covid-relief-black-business-owners.html
