I’d like to express my sincere thanks to Linda Witt for pulling this information together and for her daily work as a volunteer with the Pearl District Neighborhood Association. She dedicates her time to keeping all of us informed about what’s happening in our neighborhoods — a true service to our community. 🌟🙏
Portland is taking the drug addiction / homeless problem and spreading it around to our nicest neighborhoods. Remember this is with just 40 low-barrier beds, they are going to jump to 200 pretty soon. What a mess. Heartbreaking to watch and hear about with more of the same planned for a neighborhood near you. Please!! Stop This Madness
And let’s not forget — there’s another shelter for 75 unsheltered women planned just around the corner on NW Lovejoy… radio silence on that one too! Who’s responsible for keeping us informed? I thought Portland Solutions was designated by the mayor. It’s very sad that the city seems to struggle so much with orchestrating even the most basic information.
Just so everyone stays as confused as possible. Lance Orton the chair of ShelterPortland says “over night shelters are not a solution to homelessness and should not be painted as such”.. you can see this going on for a long, long, time.
It's beyond entertaining to watch the residents of the Pearl react to the clumsy effort to get the mayor off the hook on his rash campaign promise. Wonder how many of you voted for Wilson...but then you voted for the new city charter that rendered him (and every other future mayor) essentially powerless to do anything about the policies that created the current mess on our streets.
Out here on the east side, my neighborhood has two full-scale bums' villages, one gigantic public housing project to concentrate the officially poor, several halfway houses, a place where "harm reduction" drops off supplies for the dopers, a broken-down motel for mental cases kicked out of ERs...the list goes on. Nice to have you join the parade of social progress.
You mean hear no homeless, speak no mental illness, see no drug addicts?
So called "charter reform" with Ranked Choice Voting has sure proved to be an effective way for local voters to get something done at City Hall, hasn't it?

It's not sad to me... it's infuriating!

Was this amazing research and information passed on the our silent District 4 councilors? Thank You Linda and Team!

Any comments on this update from our City Councilors?
