Time for a change. Mitch Green had his chance. He can't remember to pay his property taxes and ignores backyard burning rules. He wasted Council time with his foie gras ban and originally threatened to punish PSU over their stance on holding the people who trashed the library accountable. He worked a backdoor deal around other Council members to reopen the PGE power line plan after the Council voted unanimously against it last year. His lack of commitment to the part of his district that houses shelters, has high crime, and vagrancy problems reflects his ambivalence to the concerns of his constituents. What has he done for downtown lately? He voted against Moda but for a performing arts center that has almost no funding attached to it.
Do people watch videos of council meetings to see the councilors in action? Mitch Green was the only one to address financial issues in detail during the Moda term sheet hearing. Before the vote, he and Councilor Morillo organized a webinar with two sports economists to discuss the economics of sports stadiums. Frankly, I find him to be one of the more serious council members.
I know that the Pearl District has had 3-4 large (200 residents attending) townhalls to discuss the major issues around safety and crime in our neighborhood and the placement of two large scale low barrier shelters here, and Mitch Green was the only councilor that never showed up to engage with his constituents or indicate any support for us at all. I have personally emailed all three councilors about various issues and he’s the only one who doesn’t respond. It’s clear my (and many of my neighbor’s) very real, local concerns about our quickly eroding quality of life take a backseat (or no seat) on the list of ideologically driven things Mitch cares about, so no, his stepping in on what happens with a sports arena (which I didn’t even agree with him on regardless) isn’t going to sway me to vote for him. It’s obvious he doesn’t represent me or even care to.

There's a lot more to add than I have time to write, but yes, I've watched hours and hours of council meetings, and in no way could I possibly assess Green's actions, decisions, and/or behaviors as indicative of a public servant who is "serious" about anything other than banking $130k/year for pushing the DSA's agenda.
