BINGO, Allan. May future historians record that on November 20th, 2025, The AITR Party was formed and the beautiful city of Portland, Oregon was saved.

I have been critical of Mayor Wilson's plan. I agree with you that this was his finest moment. It is time to challenge these history-ignorant children directly. Their anger driven ineptitude is deserving of a prolonged 'time out',

Spot on, Allan! Given the stealth and disingenuous tactics of Morillo, Mitch Green, et al, the "Peacocks" have shown themselves to be "The Sneaky Peaks."

Sadly, she was joined in her efforts to sneak this through with little analysis of its impacts by Mitch Green, who along with Morillo apparently concocted and aporived this at one of the secret peacock meetings.

What Allan and other local members of the Commentariat never quite get around to talking about is: this is the way the new city charter was engineered.

Yes, "Mayor Keith Wilson responded in the usual way one reacts to a live hand grenade thrown onto one’s lap," but he could have stopped the nonsense dead in its tracks if he had something called a veto in his arsenal. He doesn't. Tough luck--he can jawbone until even the Oregonian notices--but that's ALL he can do.

Nor does Allan connnect another dot--that Angelita was elected with 25-percent of the vote (with a computer algorithm no one really understands).

Thank you, Julia Meier and the other architects of the new charter. We can't accuse them of being sneaky, they said it out loud in every one of the charter commission's "Progess Reports," except that the final irony was that instead of racial minorities, they got political outliers. Same result.

Someone is going to correct this--or we'll be stuck with Agelitas for the foreseeable future. Who's got the guts--and $$$$--to take it on?

Allan--you've got friends...

I devoted every ounce of my ink, attention and brain power to warn against passage of this charter reform package, including about 4-5 consecutive monthly editorials before the vote. I explained the insidious assumptions behind turning majority rule into minority dogma control, and I think that was before anyone else was writing about that aspect. My only regret is that I didn't have Substack then to broaden the audience.

Excellent Allan. And the formation of this political party, in non partisan elections, should be banned. In fact, every one of these officials who claim that brand should be defeated. Portland certainly deserves better.
