Please don’t forget Candace and Tiffany, nor Jamie and Sameer. They are equally invested in and complicit with this betrayal of ordinary, tax paying citizens, to the social-libertarian fever dreams of the far left: allowing drug addicts and the mentally ill to do whatever they want, whenever they want on our dime because of “equity”.
The DSA has no interest in our neighborhoods being clean or safe, only in ideological correctness and virtue signaling. And gullible Portlandia voters need to wake up to this.
I was so impressed with the thoughtful comments that so many made last night. Powerful and articulate. Democracy at its finest. I believe I saw Mitch Green’s name flash on the gallery board for a moment. I suspect he was listening / observing surreptitiously using someone else’s account. He is , like so many on the extremes, a coward. Sad days for Portland but what I saw and heard last night gave me hope.
Once again, as I comment on every article like this. If you are reading this and live in District 4, Mitch Green must go. Please leave him completely out of your rankings. I’d sign a recall for him tomorrow, because even a year is too long for someone like this to remain in office.
If you live in another district and are reading this and have one of these DSA councilors representing you - if you ever want Portland to come back, you need to vote them off the council. They don’t care about you or the city - they only care about their dysfunctional agenda.
At some point, someone is going to have to bell the cat: this is the inevitable (and predicted) outcome of the city's goofy "rank-choice" voting scheme, engineered to put minorities in office with a mere 25-percent of the vote. The original intent was to elect a preponderance of racial minorities--after all, the charter was written in the midst of the Floyd riots. What the smarty-pants got was political minorities--and gave them four-year terms on a veto-proof council.
It was in the cards from the get-go, with plays run in by the City Club and Coalition of Communities of Color. (Memo to Allan: why not ask CCC and CC how they feel about the outcome of their lobbying.)
