Crows, real and imagined, just keep showing up.
Wildwood: Follow the Crows art trail is a new self-guided public art trail that opened Aug. 7 in downtown Portland.
Crows are main characters in the fantastical adventure novel, “Wildwood,” by Portland’s Colin Meloy and illustrator Carson Ellis, which has been adapted into Laika’s latest stop-action film that opens in the fall.
This summer, download the Follow the Crows app ($1.49 to visit all 30 of the magical creatures, each painted by a local artist. Ellis’ crow is at the St. John’s Library.
In mid-November, the crows will be auctioned off to benefit OHSU Doernbecher’s Children’s Hospital.
Sneaker designer Matt Jones, aka Freaky Footwear, painted the crow in Jamison Square Park.
The event is courtesy of the Portland Metro Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Portland Clean and Safe, and Wild in Art.

Thanks for explaining this. I think there's also some kind of fundraising involved. I never did understand the cows or the cats.
