It will only work if they make it only for people who work nearby. So much of Portland's economy is urban resort work, low pay retail and restaurant work. If they make the rent 30% of income and target those people, it will be a good thing.
It’s an affordable housing project…I wonder how many of them work (don’t include drug dealing)? The city, nonprofits and County won’t put any limits on where or if they work, if they have cars, if they are actively using drugs. That would be “cruel”….despite the fact that others are paying their rents.
Thankfully there's such ample parking all around Portland already...
